Applying for an Egyptian tourist visa in the UAE

Lots of nationalities require a pre approved visa before they enter Egypt. As a South African, I fall into this category but the good thing about it is that it’s a hassle free visa to obtain!

You will need:

-Passport

-Copy of passport information page

-Copy of UAE residency page

-Salary certificate

One photo taken against a white background (no size speciation was given so I submitted one that I used for my Schengen Visa)

-Visa application form

What to do:

Gather the first 5 documents and head to the Egyptian embassy in Abu Dhabi. They are open every weekday from 9am- 2pm BUT are also open on Tuesday evenings from 5pm- 7pm. How convenient!

Park outside the Bahraini embassy. Give in your phone and Emirates ID at security then head inside. Ask for a visa application form, fill it out there and then and submit it along with the other documents above. You will receive a slip of paper telling you to come back for collection in a week.

You do not need a hotel booking/flight confirmation/no objection letter.

For South Africans, the visa is FREE if you apply directly through the embassy yourself.
